My tire has a tiny nail in it with a slow leak can i drive this way for 2 more days without damaging the tire?

i have a 08 nitro with 22 inch rims the tire was getting a little flat so i put air in it.. took it to discount tire and they said it would be 22 dollars to patch up.. im broke till friday will i be ok to drive until then?

also is 22 dollars a reasonable price for patch work?|||$22 is a good price, driving with the nail in place for a few days is a risk, but you'll probably make out okay. Just avoid long drives and highway speeds.

You'd be better off replacing it with the spare until it's fixed, but even the compact spares aren't meant for long term high speed use.|||Many places insist on patching a tire, because there's more labor involved, so they can charge more. The first place I worked was like that. They wouldn't even allow us to plug a tire. But the next place I worked, and every place after, plugged tires. I've never heard of anyone ever having trouble with a tire that was plugged. It takes less than 5 minutes because it's done with the tire on the rim, and the wheel on the car, and usually runs about $10. If you still can't afford that, then you should be OK for a couple days if you keep a real close eye on the tire pressure. The nail is not likely to come out or go all the way through the tire, or anything like that. It would be best to stay off the highway for long stretches though, just to be on the safe side. And that has more to do with the pressure being accurate than anything else.|||Definitely risky. If you stay close to gas stations that have air when you park you should be ok. You will probably need to fill up the tire from slow leaks overnight and after it sits a while. So my point about staying close to air. You can probably make it but keep the air close just in case if you can. By the way I, once patched (temporarily) a tire jamming a plastic snickers wrapper in the hole. Not really easy to do though.
