How long do "plugs" keep tires inflated? Are they a pernament fix?

I had a nail one of my quad tires, I took it to discount tire and they plugged it for free, how long will this keep it sealed? Is it a pernament fix/?|||Sometimes in ATV and riding lawn mower tires plugging can be used because the tires themselves are so thin and the sealing liner of the tire doesn't take patching very well. The only proper way to fix a tire is to dismount, inspect for damage and then use a combination plug patch that not only seals the leak but fills the hole through the tire. Plugging or patching alone is not satisfactory by the new standards for highway use tires.





In your case it will keep the tire sealed until the plug dries out, or it flings out or you wear the tire out. Its a crap shoot.|||Just hope my mechanic at Walmart did a good job!

People will probably tell you that you will need to buy tires in the future, but as long as they still go down the road the way you want them too, the plugs will do just fine|||The plug will provide a temp fix that wont last the full life of the tire, learned that one the hard way. Your best bet in that kind of a situation is to have the tire removed and have it patched or galvanized.|||It's permanent until it falls out while you are driving, the proper way to fix it is to take the tire off the rim and have it patched.|||i know i had them plugged on my car and i ran the tire out and it was still in there.
