I went to Discount Tire and as soon as I left the truck made an odd noise. A mechanic at Aamco said it may be a chipped flywheel. Can a hydraulic lift damage that part of a vehicle?|||There is no way that the lift did the damage. The tire shop is not responsible.
The problem happening is a coincidence. If I call you on the phone, and the house across the street catches fire, did my phone call start the fire? NO!! The problem with your truck is not caused by the lift!|||NO|||No. The flywheel's encased in the bell-housing at the back of the engine. I think you'd notice if that was smashed . . .|||I don't know what they have for a lift but I would say it's almost impossible for the lift to damage the flywheel. The lift picks up the truck on the frame and the flywheel is inside the transmission.|||a lift cant do that, because it straddles the motor and tranny. a lift sits on the frame of the car, not the flywheel. what causes a tooth to break, is someone trying to start the car, when its already started, also its not very good on starters too.|||No it is absolutely impossible to damage a flywheel by lifting a vehicle on any kind of hoist. For that to happen the chassis would have to be so weak from rust and the transmission would have to be practically unbolted from the engine...|||possible yes seem like if it made a noise you would have not drove it away but had stop and had them check it... would have been smarter and more easy to prove they did it if you was there and didnt drive away but now how can you say they did it after you left you could have hit something you know what i mean.... sorry but you should have took it back then and not when somewhere else
